About 17 SUNDAYS in Abbotsford
When we were 17, we smelled like teen spirit, knew all the words to ’Hold on’ by Wilson Phillips, could occasionally do The Humpty Dance and were always, always ready to...for some quality Hammer time. The Sundays, Pixies, and Sonic Youth were the sound track of our weekends as we tried to make denim overalls work (FAIL), match flannel shirts with babydoll dresses and rocked super high waisted carrot top jeans with baggy Cherry Lane grandpa tees (no, you may not see photos). We never missed an episode of Twin Peaks or 90210, hurtling towards adulthood was new and exciting, creativity was expressed through fashion and self awareness started to bloom. Today, even though we STILL know all the words to ’Hold on’ (and enjoy busting it out at karaoke), we have managed to put together a pretty impressive resume of fashion industry achievements, gained huge amounts of experience and worked with some of Australia’s leading denim and co-ordinate brands. In 2010 we came together, united by a passion for bespoke, high quality garment design and a desire to shake things up in the world of plus size fashion.
We believe that fashion shouldnt judge, stereotype, ostracise, or exclude. To us, fashion is simply self-expression! At 17 Sundays, we want to give every curvy girl the opportunity to feel sexy on date night, beautiful on a girls’ night out, sassy in a club and confident kicking around town. Although we strive to produce on-trend styles through monthly ranges, our plus size fashion labels are so much more than just clothing. 17 Sundays is a cultural destination where everyone who values fashion, art, music, and creativity can come together and be part of a fun and positive community.
Most importantly, 17 Sundays is about empowerment. We’re taking self-esteem, confidence, and expression back. And lets face it; we ain’t going to be doing that in elastic waist jeans and printed chiffon muumuus! So join us, get fierce and “holdddd on for one more dayyyy”..
